What is the course in Jihlava like?

If there is something special about the race in Jihlava then it is the course and the atmosphere on it. We are persuaded about this and we believe that if you come to the race you will see it for yourself. It is obvious that the course does not suit everyone, but this could be said about any other course in the world.

What is typical for Jihlava‘s course? The riders themselves call it ridable, fast, medium- hard with interesting technical parts. It is an unconventional city course which runs through hilly forest parks, woods, around a lake just outside the city and also through a medieval city centre. The course is 8400 meters long with elevation of 180 meters.

The surfaces include clay, gravel, pavé and tarmac. The riders enjoy the quick changes of the surfaces and the variety of the different sections of the course. There is one difficult climb (legendary “Hradecek”) and few shorter descents – single tracks and stairs. The stairs descent is probably the most attractive place for riders, spectators and photographers alike.

The course has remained almost the same for 8 years and one of the reasons is that the riders like it and there is no need to change it in some substantial way. There used to be one pretty steep descent few years ago but for safety reasons it was removed from the course.

Over the years we learned that most of the riders want to enjoy also the atmosphere and meet their friends. They are not coming to risk on a very difficult and technical course like the ones we see in cross country world cup. The cars appearing on the course are exceptions as the course is secured by the Czech Police and by marshals, who take care of the safety of the riders for the whole time of the race duration.

As it is evident from the video on the web page www.jihlavska24mtb.cz the rider is not threatened by cars on the course.

The riders can enjoy the unique atmosphere on the course. As it runs quite close to houses you can meet groups of spectators who never forget to cheer up the riders.

For the 10th year which is also a European Championship we are preparing FAN ZONES which will offer the spectators pleasant places with live music. We believe that this will contribute to the racing atmosphere on the course.

Come to Jihlava to experience the true spirit of ultra-endurance event.
We are looking forward to meet you there.
